Hôtel Verrine
Eleven rooms in a 1740 merchant's house. No lobby, no lift, no rush.
Three floors, a courtyard, and a staircase everyone photographs.
The house was a cooperage, then a printworks, then empty for nineteen years. We kept the ink stains on the second-floor boards because they are the only record left of what happened here.
Breakfast is at the long table at eight. Dinner is wherever Rita feels like cooking that evening, which is usually the courtyard.
“The kind of place you cancel the rest of the trip for.”
