We do not design for the photograph.
We design for the fourteenth winter, when the render has weathered and the family has grown by two.
Every project starts with a survey of what is already there — light, drainage, the neighbour's sightlines, the tree nobody wants to lose. Most of our best moves are subtractions.
We keep the studio at nine people so that the person who draws your detail is the person who stands in the mud and watches it get built.
